MY EQUIPMENT

Over the years of testing microphones, plug-ins, various audio tools and interfaces, my current VO recording kit consists of Sennheiser MKH 416 and RME UCX interface. Very German and ever so slightly boring, but I prefer voice-over gear to record my voice as it is... instead of turning it to something that it is not. With a good quality cable and well tuned recording space I can safely promise to deliver broadcast quality recordings.

When it comes to field audio, ORTF stereo pair of Sennheiser MKH8040 microphones is probably the best combo that money can buy. Especially for most quiet and detailed recordings. On the other hand Sony M10, with a pair of Clippys or even using built in mics, is probably the smallest package for incredibly good sound capture. I also use Lectrosonics SPDR for clear, very quiet stereo recordings with embedded timecode for synchronization with cameras and other recorders.

In my recording studio, I have streamlined my workflow using Mac-based applications, which enables me to maintain consistency and efficiency throughout my creative process. My go to DAW for voice recordings and long form editing (podcasts, audiobooks) is Adobe Audition. When mixing dialogue with higher number of tracks and plugins, I prefer a very stable and predictable Avid Pro Tools. For de-noising and sound restoration I am using the Izotope RX. Over the years I have tried Waves, Sonnox and Cedar products, but at the moment Izotope RX 11 Advanced is my go to system. For basic video editing jobs, subtitling and rendering I am using both Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut.
